Original recipe yields 2 servings



  1. In a small saucepan, combine cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and apple juice; whisk until well blended. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer. Cook and stir for 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  2. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).
  3. Place apples in a microwave-safe dish and drizzle with apple syrup. Microwave on high for 1 minute, or until tender; set aside. Toast bread and arrange apple slices on top. Drizzle with syrup.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning. Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired. Serve immediately.

i hated it, the apples were too sweet, the syrup was too much, i could have done without.

Didn't have the apple syrup how ever the syrup that you make with this recipe is more then enough. I added my apples to the syrup while it was cooking, the apples softened and the syrup thickened just fine. I made my bread into french toast just for the fun of it and topped it with red hots to make it even prettier. The recipe didn't say what to do with the brown sugar so I didn't use it, making this the perfect breakfast for Mom.She thought she was getting a sugary sweet treat when in fact it was a good tasting good for you meal.Not often I can get one by that ole girl. She only got 2 red hots on her toast being as they are all sugar.



I haven't made the toast part but the apple syrup in this recipe is absolutely delicious. I put it on pancakes, waffles, etc. and love that it is a sweet but healthier way to sweeten my breakfasts.
