This is an easy and extremely tasty recipe! Every time I make this, I have people lined up to get the recipe! Cereal, corn chips, pretzels and nuts are coated with a vanilla confectioner's coating (also known as almond bark). This recipe makes a LOT - enough to fill an entire punch bowl and then some! Great for get-togethers

Directions

  1. Cover a large flat surface with waxed paper. In a large bowl, stir together the popcorn, cereal, corn chips, almonds, and pretzels.
  2. Melt the confectioners' coating in a glass bowl in the microwave for 1 minute. Continue to cook at 30 second intervals, stirring between each one, until the coating is smooth.
  3. Pour melted coating over the cereal mixture. It's best to use a large metal spoon, and pour 1 or 2 spoonfuls at a time then mix to ensure even distribution. (A second person can be useful here - one to pour, one to mix.) Once everything is coated, spread the mixture out onto waxed paper in a thin layer. Let stand for about 1/2 hour, or until coating is dry. Transfer to a bowl to serve, or store in an airtight container.

This is some really good stuff!! I didn't use the cereal puffs or corn chips since they weren't in my pantry, so I worked with what I had onhand. I used 3 regular sized bags microwave popcorn, 2 cups holiday shaped pretzels, about a cup roasted peanuts, and 1.5 pounds (the whole package) vanilla almond bark. To mix, I turned the lid to my round cake taker/keeper upside down and dumped everything into it and it worked perfectly. Mixed with a large wooden spoon, then poured everything onto parchment paper to dry. Couldn't be easier and absolutely delicious! Thanks so much for a great recipe! :o) UPDATE 12/1/08: For the kids at church, I leave out the peanuts and use M&Ms instead. We've made this by the tons for VBS and other kid functions and they LOVE it!!

YUM! This is really good--a perfect mix of salty and sweet. I only used 1 bag of popcorn, as the biggest bowl I had was already overflowing. It still came out just fine. And a second person is definitely helpful, although next time I make this, I think I will divide the ingredients between 2 bowls to manage it easier.

I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe! It's amazing - I made it for a baby shower and it disappeared! Beware, it makes A LOT and you will be asked for the recipe! One change I tried was to add food coloring to the almond bark (pink for the baby shower) and it turned out very nice.
