Original recipe yields 16 1 inch squares



  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt shortening over low heat. Add eggs and sugar, mixing well.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and salt until well blended. Add to the egg mixture.
  4. Spread batter into baking pan. Sprinkle thickly with cinnamon and chopped nuts. Bake until light brown, about 10 to 15 minutes. Cut into squares and remove from pan immediately.

This needed much longer in the oven than the recipe called for-



I made a batch but doctored it up a bit because the reviews were less than likeable. I added sugar to the topping, cinnamon to the cookie batter then topped it with finely shredded coconut. I like the idea of a bar because it is so much faster. Will keep checking back on this to see if anyone else tried my trick!! goodluck



I grew up with snickerdoodle cookies and I was amazed to see this recipe for snickerdoodle bars. I was really disappointed with the outcome. It was cake and after they sat for about 1 hour they were dry and bland.
