Original recipe yields 2 dozen

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, cream the shortening and brown sugar. Mix in the egg, orange juice and zest until well blended. Gradually add the dry ingredients, stirring constantly. Stir in the butterscotch chips and coconut. Pour the dough into greased baking pan.
  3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until top is golden brown. Let cool before cutting into squares.

I didn't have all the ingredie..." See morents so I had to change a few things, but I guess I got lucky because they were delicious! I had no shortening so I used 1/2 cup butter and 1/4 cup of half vegetable oil, half whipping cream. Used sliced almonds instead of butterscotch chips and included 1/4 cup powdered almonds (removed 1/4 cup flour). Baked 23 minutes. I love how the orange, coconut and almond flavors blended together, the result smelled and tasted quite delicate and refined. Will make again."
