Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the shortening, brown sugar and eggs. Stir in the flour and baking soda. Stir in the walnuts. Drop dough by spoonfuls 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
  3. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool on wire racks.

Extremely simple--almost foolproof to prepare. The result is your good, basic cookie, nothing fancy, nothing pretentious. I recommend a non-stick cookie sheet, or a little non-stick spray.

where is the salt in this recipe ? This was bland tasting. I added salt,chopped unsweetened chocolate to the rest of the batch to perk it up and some raisins...omitted the crisco, and did but...

Easy and delicious. Make them small because they expand.
