Jun 1, 2013 8:52 PMPlanning to cook prime rib roast next week, concerned about thawing meat as it was completely frozen. After thawing then do I leave it out til it reaches room temperature? After I cook rib in oven for one hour can I then transfer rib to the grill to finish cooking?

Nov 22, 2012 9:01 PMGreetings Kids! This is a simple recipe that produces Great Results! Tried for the first time for Thanksgiving and couldn't be happier with the results. For those folks that "followed the ecipe to a T"... There might a couple of variables you haven't taken in to consideration... You may need to adjust your oven temp or cooking time if you live at higher altitudes. I live in the Sierras at 4,200 ft elevation... takes much longer for water to boil than at sea level. While I followed the recipe to a "T" my roast turned out slightly to the Rare side and not Med Rare. Fortunately that's how I prefer it. Even though I only cook for myself, I still used a 5lb rib roast... ( left overs make excellent roast beef sandwiches!) . Anything less than 4lbs might have a tendency to over cook. Finally, you might consider testing your oven's thermostat with a cooking thermometer. It's not unusual for thermostats to be off by as much as 10 degrees. Good Luck!
