Mar 8, 2013 12:33 AMThis is a great starter recipe. Be sure to use Hawaiian Alae Salt (red in color)for that real Hawaiian taste (Amazon carries it). For the last hour of cooking, I shred the pork, and add 1 head of cabbage (cut in wedges) and 2 sliced Maui onions. I toss it all together with the juices from the slow cooker, and 1 tsp. soy sauce, return it to the slow cooker and cook on high for 1 hour, or until veggies are semi soft. To save time, you could also carmalize the onions, saute the cabbage, and toss with rest of the ingredients until heated through. We serve this with a side of fresh pineapple cole slaw, sliced tropical fruit salad (mangos, pineapple, papaya and bananas), Plantation (or mango) iced tea, and Haupia coconut cake or pie for dessert....SO 'ONO!!!

Oct 13, 2012 10:13 AMOur Version: No salt, some liquid smoke but the really amazing thing is to put the pork in the slow cooker, then place 2 bananas on top of the pork. Leave the babanas whole and still in the peel. Yeah it sounds weird but I personally assure you it will be the best. The banana melts and no, you don't taste banana at the end. This is our most requested recipe at all our weddings we cook for.
