Plays: 67004

Bratwurst is the perfect picnic or barbeque sausage. In this video, you’ll learn how to grill bratwurst in two easy steps. We’ll show you the key to getting perfectly caramelized bratwursts—low, slow grilling—because cooking them too quickly causes them to split open. You’ll see where to position your sausages on the grill so they cook evenly and develop that delicious caramelized exterior without burning. You’ll also get suggestions for the best condiments to pile onto your brats.

I low and slow them first, but I always put them in a pan of beer, onions and bell peppers. I let them stay there while I grill burgers, hot dogs and steaks... then hit them directly only the grill for a minute or two on both sides to carmelize the casings!

It would be best to invite chef John to your BBQ,and have your tongs ready.Really, slow and low with indirect heat!

I boil our brats in beer and sliced onion with a touch of garlic, usually end up freezing them after they have cooled, makes for a quick lunch. We grill them which is the best, but can fry them in a skillet if your pressed for time...
