Brick-Oven Pizza (Brooklyn Style)

Plays: 31372

In this video, you’ll see how to make Brooklyn pizzeria-style brick-oven cheese pizza. You’ll make the homemade crust a little in advance, so the dough can rise and develop additional flavors. When you’re ready to bake the pizza, you’ll simply roll out the dough and top it with sliced mozzarella, dried oregano, crushed tomatoes, and a drizzle of olive oil. There’s no elaborate sauce with this style of pizza, just quality fresh ingredients. When the pizza comes out of the oven, garnish it with torn fresh basil leaves. Watch the video, then get the 5-star recipe for Brick-Oven Pizza (Brooklyn Style). Tear into a slice! It's even better with an ice-cold pilsner. See more pizza videos >>

Whereas I have not tried this recipe yet, I will. Yeast is basically fermented sugar so technically none is needed if the yeast is active. A recipe is just a guide and should be subjective. If you like a little extra salt, add it. When making this recipe, I will use my made from scratch sauce in lieu of the canned tomatoes. Or I may use fresh, sliced tomatoes if I want this to be authentic Italian pizza. So basically, call it whatever you like! This authentic Italian girl will enjoy it no matter what!

Where is the salt on the pizza? A tin of crushed tomatoes have got no salt and so is that cheese... And yes, Ann is right, where is the teaspoon of sugar to mix with the dry yeast??
