Spicy Orange Chicken

Plays: 99266

In this video, you’ll learn how to make a lower-calorie version of the spicy orange chicken you find in Chinese restaurants. The secret is no deep frying. The marinade gets spiced up with red pepper flakes, fish sauce, and ginger. You’ll see how to turn the flavorful marinade into a glaze on the stovetop. The mahogany glaze then coats the chunks of chicken, beautifully and deliciously. Then the chicken cooks briefly with orange zest, garlic, jalapenos, bell pepper, green onions, and sweet and crunchy snap peas. Garnish your spicy orange chicken with fresh cilantro for a delicious, quick meal. Get the recipe for Chef John's Spicy Orange Chicken.

I was VERY surprised that the marinade which held raw chicken was not boiled prior to being added back into the recipe!

Where is the Mahogany color in the glaze? Did someone forget the soy sauce? Although I'm sure it is delicious, I would have preferred to see the deeper color that was described. It would have greatly improved the appeal. Lack of sauce color made the dish in this video less appetizing to me.
