Plays: 77352

In this edition of Behind the Recipe, you’ll meet Adam Kipust, an aspiring young baker. Adam picked up the baking gene from his great-grandmother, whose delicious apple cake was Adam’s first recipe and remains his favorite. For the Kipust family, baking’s not so much about the results, it’s about the process, about spending time together in the kitchen. Today, Adam bakes tasty treats and sells them, giving half the proceeds to charity. Get the recipe for Adam's Apple Cake.

aaarrrrrgggg!!! this batter was more like a cookie dough than a cake batter. i followed the recipe exactly .i did mix my dry ingredients first, 3 cups of flour etc. and before adding the apples i knew it was going to be too thick.i didnt want to waste the batter but it looked nothing like the video, so i added another egg, another quarter cup oil and about a third cup vanilla yogurt, this loosened it enough to resemble a batter.its baking now but i have no idea what its going to turn out like.was it a typo??i think its way too much flour.let you know what happens...

I have made this cake for a charity bake sale for an organization that my husband belonged to for our community. It was a sell out! Will be making it again for a surprise anniversary cake for my in-laws in 2 weeks time! Thanks Adam! (which is my son name as well! :D)

Hi, I just baked this cake and was delicious! Thank you Adam for sharing this amazing and simple recipe! For the ones that had a dry batter, i mixed all dry ingredients first, then vanilla, egg and oil (which i substituted for 1/4 melted butter and 2/4 apple sauce) in a separate bowl, then added them to dry ingredients and mixed manualy, it was a little bit sticky but moist enough, then added all 4 chopped apples in the top and mixed it. Not sure what went wrong with yours, but mine turned out just perfect after 50 min
