I love the way you poured the buttermilk in the hollowed out middle of the bowl like my mother makes hers. She used lard also but the butter is also good.

You can also buy powdered buttermilk. I buy SACO brand cultured buttermilk blend. (It's in a squat, round container, 12 ounces, and has a cartoony looking chef on the front.) You add this to water. You have to keep it refrigerated, but for those of us who can't buy buttermilk, or who just don't use it too often, it's a much better alternative. They have a website: www.sacofoods.com. Good luck.
