Cooking poultry without first rinsing it may not be a health risk, since the bacteria will be destroyed by heat. Wowever, with that said, I still prefer to rinse poultry. The reason is this: During production, intestines are sometimes ruptured, and the fecal matter spills into the cavity of the bird. Although the poultry goes through a washing process, some of those contaminants can still be on the meat. True, it won't kill me to eat the animal's well-cooked body waste, but I prefer not to eat poultry "a la manure." Thanks, but I'll just make sure that I clean kitchen surfaces well, and I'll keep washing my poultry!

Frozen chicken is washed and prepped prior to freezing and selling. Using directly from frozen in a slow cooker provides no harmful effects in regards to bacteria or food poisoning. I have very rarely used fresh meat in my recipes, always frozen unless I am looking for the taste that browning provides. But this can all be subject to preference

I agree with noting the meat isn't cleaned or washed prior to placing in the slow cooker. I actually notice a lot of chefs DO NOT wash their meat before cooking. I don't get it.
